Winter/Spring Sports Wrap Up
Boys Volleyball
2012 marked the first varsity season
for the boys program, and they didn’t
disappoint, finishing with a winning record
of 12-9. With strong showings over some
Division I programs at the Westerville
South Invitational tournament, and
earning their first victory over St. Charles,
the boys team is poised for a strong
future, led by freshman Evan Feltz, who
earned an All State Honorable Mention,
and junior Nick Clarke, who was voted
2nd Team All Region.
Boys Track
The Boys Track Team completed a
fantastic season, winning 5 invitational
meets as well as the CCL and Districts.
It also marked the end of Head Coach
Rick Baker’s tenure has head of the
Stallions. The Stallions placed 5th at
the Regional competition, and at States,
several athletes placed in their respective
event: junior Tyler West--9th in the 800
meters; senior and District champ Aaron
Melsop--9th in the long jump, setting a
school record of 22'10 ½"; and senior
David Brooks-Dandridge--7th in the
discus. Also, the 4X400 meter relay team,
comprised of senior Riley West, juniors
Tyler West and La Shaun Sanders, and
freshman Adam Aquista, finished in 8th
place. David, as well as the members of
the 4X400 relay, earned all state honors.
According to coach Rick Baker, “It was a
wonderful way to end a 34 year career
coaching track and field.”
Boys Tennis
This year’s tennis team, under head
coach Matt Rutherford, won the CCL
Championship for the first time in 4
seasons. Accumulating a record of 10-6,
with key wins over St. Charles, Watterson,
Hilliard Davidson, and
Worthington Kilbourne,
the Stallions were led
by 6 seniors: Gian Carlo DiMichaelangelo,
Kevin Walsh, Jesse Faulkner, Dylan
Barrow, David Keller, and James Walsh.
Faulkner and DiMichaelangelo will
play tennis next year at Capital, and
the program will return 2 letterwinners
next spring: Mack Beidler and Sonny
DiMichaelangelo.
Girls Lacrosse
The Lady Stallions compiled a record
of 8-7-1, making 2012 the first winning
season for the girls program. Big wins
over Bishop Watterson, Westerville
North, and The Wellington School
highlighted the year, and several girls
received honors for their play: senior
Jessica Johnson, the team MVP, was
named All League and All District, while
3 other Lady Stallions also received All
League Honorable Mention--Margaret
Kistner, Mallory Janszen, and Ali Cargin.
Seniors Kistner and Johnson, along with
fellow 2012 graduate Renee Landis, also
received Academic All American Honors.
